About India Clay Oven
Located at 2436 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94121, India Clay Oven operates as an indian restaurant serving San Francisco in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In San Francisco, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 10 amβ11 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach India Clay Oven at (415) 751-0505; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, indiaclayoven.com.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 1,531 reviews, which is a strong result for an indian restaurant in San Francisco and suggests consistent service.
San Francisco is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and San Francisco follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

This is my 1st Indian restaurant since moving to the Bay. The restaurant is beautiful inside. The art and decor give a well-balanced feeling of deep culture and traditions. The staff were polite, funny and very detailed in their service. We were explained, any dish and were able to try a wide variety of food. The food was delicious! We had varying dishes, lamb, shrimp, creamy chicken and sides (no French fries lol). My skillet was good, shrimp and peppers. The price was unreasonably affordable! We were shocked at having a healthy portion for the price we paid per person. I would recommend trying this restaurant and exploring some different dishes, from a unique and beautiful place.

The lunch buffet is back! Iβve been eating here for the last 20 years and they have been a staple in the neighborhood. Navi and his team have provided reliably delicious Indian food in the Richmond district. Pro tip: a cup of chai is the perfect way to finish the meal.

Great lunch buffet for 17.99. Our server Navi was attentive and polite. Food was remade frequently during my visit. Only critique I have is I wish they played some music! It was so quiet inside you can hear forks hitting your plates. Iβd still visit if youβre craving Indian food and donβt mind the silence.

India Clay Oven is an absolute hidden gem on the SF Peninsula, and it made for the most precious, private, and romantic date night. The restaurant is unbelievably gorgeous on the inside, yet surprisingly, there wasn't a single soul sitting down when we went. Having that beautiful space all to ourselves made the atmosphere feel incredibly special and intimate. The Paneer Tikka Masala was absolutely amazing, and it is totally worth getting it spicy because the heat level and flavor were perfect. The garlic naan had phenomenal flavor and texture, and the rice was incredibly generous with the seasonings. It was mouth-numbingly good and paired perfectly with the curry. If you want top-tier Indian cuisine and a stunning, quiet setting for a night out, this is the spot.

This place is absolutely amazing. We've come for their lunch buffet and consistently get their takeout, both are equally delicious. But the PHENOMENAL service especially from Nabi!!!! is the true highlight every single time. They are so kind and attentive, the best food : service : atmosphere ratio you'll find in the area. We'll keep coming back :)
